I know I’m a little late, since Oktoberfest is usually the first week of October, but I figure we could still have an Oktoberfest at home while it’s still October. We didn’t have any beer on hand, but we did have Tofurky Beer Brats! Did you know that Tufurky uses microbrewed Full Sail Ale in these brats? How cool is that?
First, Chad fried up some onions until they were all golden and caramelized. Then he added the brats. Oh the wonderful smell!

Chad had picked up some Daiya Harvarti cheese so we put that on the bun before putting on the brat and onions to melt it perfectly.

And ta da! The perfect Oktobfest beer brat! With ketchup, of course. It was incredibly good. Even meat-eaters would gobble this down.

I gotta say, I love the spicy jalapeno garlic havarti. Havarti is the cheese I have missed the most since going vegan. When I was in high school, just about every day I’d have a turkey and havarti sandwich for lunch. I think the Daiya havarti would be fantastic on a sandwich with oven roasted Tofurky slices, some lettuce, tomato and mayo. Now I want that for lunch!
