ON Thursday Chad and I went to Check out the Leslieville Wanderlust. It was a night where lots of store in Leslieville (a neighbourhood in Toronto, on the east end) stayed open late, had great sales and served food and drinks.
Our first stop was Atomic ToyBot where we didn’t get anything (they sold out of HypnoToads), but entered a draw they were having.
Then we went to Pied a Terre, which is a cute antique store in the basement of a building. If you like Paris, check them out because they have LOTS of Eiffel Tower stuff. I won’t say what we got but we did buy SOMEONE a Christmas present there.
Next we went upstairs to the Arts Market. We love this shop. We have a couple pieces from some of their artists. We even got our cat bed there. I bought a locally-made soy candle for my office Secret Santa (I know they don’t read this blog, so it’s ok for me to say that). It smells wonderful!
I also got a pretty mustard and brown hair bow for myself. It was too cute not to get. I love supporting local crafters. I wish I had gotten the name of the company/person who made it, but I can check next time we go. I actually think I might try my hand at making some myself.
After that we headed to Nathalie-Rose & Co. I liked a lot of the stuff there, but I couldn’t find anything I liked that didn’t have wool in it so we left empty handed.
Last but not least, we went to Doll Factory by Damzels. I had a glass of red wine in my hadn and with my purse and other purchases, it was a little difficult to browse the racks, but I did see a sweater in a skirt I like. I was trying NOT to buy too much for myself though so I didn’t buy them. At least I know I can get some cute stuff there.
All in all, it was nice night and I’m happy that some of my Christmas presents are going to be from local shops. I think it’s really important to support local companies. This week we learnt that a local bakery is closing in our neighbourhood. It’s really sad because we LOVE their nanaimo bars. So please try and shop local for your gifts this holiday season!
