Reading Wednesday ~ Dune

Well I’ve finally done it. The Dune series has been sitting on my Kindle basically since I got the darn thing for Christmas 2011. Last week I started reading the first book, Dune. I’m only 12% into it and at first it was a little difficult to read around all of the new words, but I’m really starting to plunge into the story now.

Dune Cover

Dune is THE classic sci-fi novel first published in 1965 and written by Frank Herbert. Over the next 20 years, Herbert wrote five sequels to Dune.

The books are set in the future and follow Paul Atreides, the heir apparent to Duke Leto Atreides, as his family is sent by Imperial House Corrino to a new planet to control. The planet is a desert with little water, but it the only source of melange, the most important and valuable substance in the universe.

Have you read The Dune Saga? Have you seen an adaptation of it?
